Concept of Justice

Any society throughout the history of time, whether it was during the reign of the Roman Empire, the British Empire or America today, there has been the concept of justice and how it has been perceived by society. Through time, the way people have perceived justice and how it should be applied to people of any society is constantly changing. Whether or not someone is a criminal, everyone is restrained by the rules of justice. Whether or not someone wants to obey them, that is up to them. Although people have the option to obey the laws of justice made for us by society today, while they could be applied differently to people who break the law. Criminals could have the concept of justice tossed at them harder and faster in the court of law when they break the law it all depends on what they do. In today's culture people have differing views of what might happen to criminals when they break the law and how justice should be served to them. Even though a criminal could be put in jail or sentenced to death, criminals also have rights and might recieve fair treatment upon certain agreements. The concept of justice isn't always correct when it is applied. 

O.J. Simpson

This case, in terms of the concept of justice, can be seen as justified for what O.J. did or maybe unjustified. It all depends on the individuals perception of the case. In the O.J. Simpson trial, O.J. was accused of the murders of Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman in the early-1990's but in in 1995 he was acquitted of the charges. Being acquitted of a crime is the same as a not guilty verdict. Even though O.J. was accused of murder, he was let go as an innocent man after the trial. With this acquittal of murder of the deaths of Ms. Simpson and Mr. Goldman, the reparations with being let go came to follow. He was ordered to repay Fred Goldman, Ronald's father, just over $33,000,000 for his son's death. O.J. Simpson is one of many people who have been accused of something they are or are not guilty of committing. He has had some minor things happen to him with the law since this trial but the concept of justice during his trial may or may not have been twisted because it wasn't solved on whether or not he had indeed been the actual murderer. With O.J., it all depends on the person looking at the facts to feel if this was a justified verdict or unjust and if the concept had been twisted for a high profile athlete such as O.J. Simpson.


 

Iraq War

 In todays's society, people have the ability to twist the concept of justice just so we can feel better that something was solved and there would be one less criminal on the street. Even though we try to uphold justice as best we can, sometimes people seek revenge because of letting ourselves become clouded with hatred for somebody. One possibility the concept of justice may have become twisted and dishonest over time is America's involvement in the Iraq war and why we are still there. We were told the reason for starting the Iraq war was for Weapons of Mass Destruction, such as nuclear bombs, chemical weapons and other extremely dangerous explosives. There wern't any W.M.D.'s that we could fine then or now. America may have had a just cause to enter Iraq when the war started. But some ask why we are still there. America took out Saddam Hussein in the process which can be seen as another just reason to go in. What other reasons are there? That has been left open to the public to ask. With a war like Iraq it is left open to the public whether or not it is a justified war to have started and are still involved with.

With a Concept, everyone has their view or vision on how to describe that concept. Some become inventions, such as the various weapons used in war or a building for courtrooms to be used to uphold the laws our founding fathers and those who came after them have created through time. With a thing such as the concept of justice, though, no matter who it is who describes it, it is a hard subject to describe. People have similar views when it comes to justice and how it should be applied. But there are some views that differ and that happens with something that is hard to describe and also a bit broad because of all the factors the come into justice such as the laws of cities, counties, provinces, states or countries and the can all vary from each place.
